View of Penguin Island from the mainland |
Something a bit
different today, we’re heading down south to Rockingham to take a look around
and to take a boat cruise around Bird Island, Seal Island and Penguin Island.
This little cluster
of islands are less than a kilometre from shore and not too far apart so the
trip isn’t very long, about 2 hours duration. The guide explaining the habitat
on each island was well informed and the boat driver did a good job of positioning
the vessel for us to get the best views. As all of the islands are Class A
Nature Reserves (the most protected type of public land in W.A.) the general public are not permitted to set foot on them, so it was out with the longer zoom lens as we
rounded each of the features.
